I've tried installing shockwave on both firefox.exe and safari.exe but both do the same thing, lock up. Running Ubuntu Hardy beta. Firefox is stable in wine without Shockwave and Safari seems to work also without Shockwave.

I've also tried Shockwave v11 and v8.5 but both lock up the wine session. Oh and CrossOverOffice also did not work for Shockwave. :-/

I successfully installed it. I do agree on what @stopsatgreen said. I guess all of the bold fonts too were rendered exaggeratedly including the it's menu bar. Take a look at the Screenshot.

John, yes it will support shockwave, you gotta download and install shockwave slim or full from the adobe site http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/ then:
You need to copy the files located in the adobe shockwave dir to the Safari plugin dir
ie:
cp -R ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/Adobe/Director/* ~/.wine/drive_c/"Program Files"/Safari/Plugins

Then Check Safari's Installed Plug-ins under the Help menu to see which plug-ins Safari is able to find, it should be there!

Safari may not be open source but Webkit (the rendering engine) is completely open if you wanted to tinker around.
